Why November 2026 is a quiet window for Umrah

November is one of the gentlest months to perform Umrah from the UK. The October half-term is over (26–30 October 2026 in Birmingham, and the Scottish October break finished even earlier), Christmas is still weeks away, and there is no major Islamic occasion drawing extra visitors to Makkah. That combination keeps both crowds and package prices at their lowest point of the winter.

For couples, retired parents and anyone who can travel outside the school calendar, it is a chance to perform tawaf and sa’i without the pressure of peak-season numbers. Our November packages start from the same base prices as our quietest months, and every one includes return flights, the Umrah visa, hotels and transfers.

Makkah and Madinah weather in November

The fierce summer heat has broken by November, but it is still warm by British standards. Average figures from the 1991–2020 climate normals look like this:

In practice you will want to plan your Umrah rites for the evening or the early hours, when the marble around the Ka’bah is cooler underfoot. Madinah is noticeably milder than Makkah, and its 18°C nights can feel cool after a day in the sun, so a light layer for the walk to Fajr is worth packing.

Compared with October, when Makkah still averages over 40°C, November is a real step down. If you are taking an older parent who struggles with heat, this difference matters more than almost anything else on the itinerary.

Where November sits in the Islamic year

The 1448 Umrah season opened on 31 May 2026 for visas and on 1 June 2026 for Makkah entry and Nusuk permits, so November falls right in the middle of an open season with no special restrictions on arrivals. Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, roughly three months later, subject to the moon sighting.

Because no Eid or Ramadan falls this month, the Haram tends to have a steadier feel. Many pilgrims make a calm first Umrah now and then return for the blessed month once they know the routine. If that appeals, look at our Ramadan Umrah packages early, as they cost more and fill sooner.

Flights to Jeddah in November 2026

November brings a useful change for northern travellers. From 1 November 2026 Saudia increases its Manchester–Jeddah service to 10 flights a week, adding an evening A321XLR departure (SV128, leaving Manchester at 22:10 and landing at 07:50 the next morning) to the daily afternoon flight SV124 from Terminal 2. Flying time is about 6h20 to 6h40.

From London Heathrow, Saudia is the only airline currently flying non-stop to Jeddah, with its winter timetable trimmed to 11 flights a week and a flight time of about six hours. Our 4★ and 5★ packages from Heathrow and Manchester use these Saudia direct flights; 3★ packages, and departures from other airports, fly Turkish Airlines with a connection in Istanbul (from Glasgow it is Emirates via Dubai), which usually adds a few hours to the journey.

Jeddah lies inside the miqat boundary, so you must be in ihram before the aircraft crosses the miqat line. The cabin crew normally announce it roughly half an hour in advance. Many November travellers change at the UK airport and make the niyyah at the announcement, following their own scholar’s guidance on the exact line.

November packages, hotels and prices

All November packages are priced per person with four sharing a room and include return flights, the Umrah visa, hotels and transfers. Prices are confirmed at the time of booking.

You can choose 7, 10, 12 or 14 nights. The 7-night option splits 4 nights in Makkah and 3 in Madinah; the longer packages divide the nights evenly between the two cities.

Which hotel tier makes sense in November?

Because the weather is kinder, the walk from a 3★ hotel is far more manageable now than in summer. Emaar Andalusia’s 700–800 m to Masjid al-Haram is a comfortable stroll in the cooler evening air, which makes our 3-star Umrah packages particularly good value this month.

If you are travelling with someone who walks slowly or uses a wheelchair, the shorter distances of the 4-star packages still help across five daily prayers. For the closest rooms, the 5-star packages put you in the Abraj Al Bait complex in Makkah and just 50 m from Masjid an-Nabawi at Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick.

Ziyarat in the cooler air

November’s milder days make it a good month for visiting the historic sites around both cities, which can be draining in summer. In Madinah, a morning trip to Masjid Quba (where praying two rak’ahs carries the reward of an Umrah, according to hadith), Masjid al-Qiblatayn and Mount Uhud with the Martyrs’ cemetery is far more comfortable at 25–30°C than at 43°C.

In Makkah, pilgrims often drive past Jabal al-Nour, home of Cave Hira where the first revelation came, and on to Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina, the sites of Hajj. Seeing them in a quiet month, with the tents of Mina empty, gives a real sense of scale.

Packing and health tips for a November Umrah

• Breathable cotton for daytime, plus one warm layer for Madinah evenings and air-conditioned hotel lobbies.
• Comfortable, broken-in footwear: you will walk several kilometres a day between hotel and Haram.
• The meningitis ACWY vaccine is compulsory for everyone aged one and over and must be given at least 10 days before you arrive, so a mid-November departure means booking the jab now.
• The Saudi Ministry of Health recommends seasonal flu and COVID-19 vaccines for Umrah pilgrims, timely advice as the UK flu season gets going.
• Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you arrive.
• To bring Zamzam home, buy one factory-sealed 5-litre bottle at the official airport counter; it travels in the hold as a separate item.
