Umrah packages from the UK: how to choose and book with confidence

Everything in one package

Every Umrah package we sell bundles the parts of the journey that are hardest to arrange separately: return flights from the UK, the Umrah visa, hotels in both Makkah and Madinah, and transfers between airport, hotels and the two cities. You choose three things, your departure city, your travel month and your hotel tier, and we build the trip around them.

Packages run for 7, 10, 12 or 14 nights. A 7-night trip gives four nights in Makkah and three in Madinah; the longer options divide the nights equally between the two cities.

Step one: where you fly from

We sell packages from 13 UK cities, using five main airports: Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. From Heathrow and Manchester, our 4-star and 5-star packages fly non-stop with Saudia to Jeddah in roughly six to six and a half hours. Everything else connects through Istanbul with Turkish Airlines, apart from Glasgow, where we use Emirates via Dubai.

Our departure cities guide lists each city with its airport and typical routing. Popular starting points include London, Birmingham and Manchester.

Step two: when you travel

The Umrah year follows the Saudi season calendar rather than the Gregorian one. The current 1448 season runs until a last entry date of 23 March 2027, so April and May are closed while Hajj takes place. The next season, 1449, is expected to reopen after Hajj, typically around late May or June; we confirm dates as soon as the Ministry announces them.

  • Coolest and best value: November to January, outside school holidays.
  • Most spiritually sought-after: Ramadan, expected from around 8 February 2027.
  • Family holidays: Christmas, February half-term and summer.
  • Hottest: June to September, with Makkah averaging over 42°C.

The month-by-month guide compares weather, crowds and prices across the year.

Step three: your hotel tier

In Makkah and Madinah, the star rating is really a question of distance. The closer your hotel, the less you walk five times a day, and the more it costs.

Tier From (pp, 4 sharing) Makkah hotels Madinah hotels Flights from Heathrow / Manchester
3-star £625 Emaar Andalusia (700–800 m), Al Kiswah Towers (900 m–1.4 km) Zowar Alalami (300–350 m), Al Aqeeq Al Rawda by Sedra (~650 m) Turkish via Istanbul
4-star £725 Elaf Kinda (160–280 m), Sheraton Makkah Jabal Al Kaaba (~200 m) Dallah Taibah (160–200 m), Elaf Taiba (220–500 m) Saudia non-stop
5-star £895 Swissôtel Makkah (210 m), Pullman ZamZam Makkah (100 m) Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick (50 m), Pullman Zamzam Madinah (110 m) Saudia non-stop

These starting prices apply in standard months and are confirmed at booking. Peak periods such as Ramadan, Christmas and New Year cost more. As a rule of thumb, 3-star suits budget-minded and younger pilgrims, 4-star suits most families, and 5-star suits elderly parents and anyone with limited mobility.

What is and isn’t included

Included Not included
Return flights from the UK Your own travel insurance
Umrah visa Meningitis ACWY vaccination
Hotels in Makkah and Madinah Personal spending
Transfers between airport, hotels and cities Optional extras you choose to add

Your Umrah itself is booked through a Nusuk permit for a set time slot. Visits to the Rawdah in Madinah are also booked on Nusuk and are limited to once every 365 days.

Room sharing and prices

All of our “from” prices assume four people sharing one room, which is how most families and groups of friends travel. Couples, solo pilgrims and smaller families can book double or triple rooms at a higher price per person. When you ask for a quote, tell us who is travelling, including children’s ages, and we will show the room options that fit.

How booking works

  1. Request a quote with your dates, airport, tier and number of travellers.
  2. Pay a deposit to secure your place; we confirm the amount for your dates before you book.
  3. Pay the balance before departure, as set out in our booking policy.
  4. Receive your ATOL Certificate. Packages that include a flight are ATOL protected (ATOL No. 11203); we confirm what protection applies to your booking. If a travel company fails, ATOL protection means you get a refund if you have not yet travelled, or help to continue your trip and get home if you are already away. ATOL is not travel insurance, so you still need a policy of your own.

Before you commit, please also look at the latest FCDO travel advice. It currently advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia, and insurers may base your cover on it.

Common questions

How much does Umrah cost from the UK?

Our Umrah packages start from £625 per person at 3-star, £725 at 4-star and £895 at 5-star, with four people sharing a room. Each includes flights, visa, hotels and transfers. Ramadan, Christmas, New Year and school holidays cost more, and every price is confirmed at booking.

What is included in an Umrah package?

Our packages include return flights from the UK, the Umrah visa, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, and transfers. Travel insurance and vaccinations are not included. You will also need a Nusuk permit for your Umrah time slot, which forms part of the standard Umrah process.

Are your Umrah packages ATOL protected?

Yes. Our flight-inclusive packages are ATOL protected (ATOL No. 11203), and you receive an ATOL Certificate when the protection applies to your booking. ATOL protects your money and your journey home if a travel company fails, but it is not travel insurance, so you should still buy a suitable policy.

How long should an Umrah trip be?

We offer 7, 10, 12 and 14 nights. Seven nights is enough to perform Umrah and pray in both mosques. Ten to fourteen nights allows a gentler pace, more time for ziyarat and is often better for older travellers or families with young children.

When is the best time to go for Umrah?

It depends on your priorities. November to January offers cooler weather and lower prices, Ramadan brings the greatest spiritual reward and the biggest crowds, and school holidays suit families. April and May are closed for the Hajj season, so plan for March or June instead.

How much deposit do I need to book Umrah?

It depends on your dates and package, and we confirm the exact amount before you book. See our booking policy for how payments work. Your ATOL Certificate is issued when you book.
