Umrah in the last ten nights of Ramadan 2027: the complete UK guide

Why so many pilgrims aim for the final ten nights

For many British Muslims, the closing stretch of Ramadan is the single most sought-after time to be in Makkah or Madinah. These are the nights in which Laylat al-Qadr is sought, and spending them in worship beside the Kaaba or in Masjid an-Nabawi is, for a lot of families, a once-in-a-lifetime ambition saved up for over years.

That ambition is shared by pilgrims from every corner of the world, which is exactly what makes this period different to plan. Rooms near the mosques are limited, flights fill early and the Saudi visa deadline sits right at the end of the month. This page sets out the expected dates, our prices and the practical decisions that come with it.

Expected dates for the odd nights in 2027

Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027. Counting forward, the 21st night, which opens the final ten, falls on the evening of Saturday 27 February 2027. If the moon is sighted a day early and the month begins on 7 February, every date below moves back by one day.

Night Expected evening (approx.)
21st night Sat 27 Feb 2027
23rd night Mon 1 Mar 2027
25th night Wed 3 Mar 2027
27th night Fri 5 Mar 2027
29th night Sun 7 Mar 2027
Eid al-Fitr Tue 9 Mar 2027 (or Wed 10 Mar)

These are calculated from the projected start of the month, not announced dates, so build in a little flexibility. We recommend arriving at least a day before the 21st night so you are settled, rested and through your Umrah before the first odd night begins.

The visa deadline you cannot miss

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has set 9 March 2027 as the last date for issuing Umrah visas this season, and 23 March 2027 as the last day of entry. For a last-ten-nights trip this means your visa must be processed well before Eid. We handle that for you, but it is one more reason not to book in the final weeks.

Prices for the last ten nights

This is the most expensive window of the Umrah year. The figures below are our starting prices per person, based on a room shared by four, including return flights, visa, hotel accommodation and transfers. Your exact price is confirmed when you book.

Package From Where you stay in Makkah Where you stay in Madinah
3-star £1,055 Emaar Andalusia, 700–800 m, or Al Kiswah Towers, 900 m–1.4 km Zowar Alalami, 300–350 m, or Al Aqeeq Al Rawda by Sedra, ~650 m
4-star £1,225 Elaf Kinda, 160–280 m, or Sheraton Makkah Jabal Al Kaaba, ~200 m via pedestrian bridge Dallah Taibah, 160–200 m, or Elaf Taiba, 220–500 m
5-star £1,515 Pullman ZamZam Makkah, 100 m, or Swissôtel Makkah, 210 m, in Abraj Al Bait Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick, 50 m, or Pullman Zamzam Madinah, 110 m

Distances are to Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. Because demand is so high, we recommend booking early. See the booking policy for the full payment schedule.

Is a closer hotel worth it on these nights?

At most times of year we tell first-timers that a 3-star hotel is a sensible way to keep costs down. In the final ten nights our advice is more cautious. The congregations at Taraweeh and Qiyam are enormous, and the walk back to your room at 2 or 3am after hours of prayer is a very different proposition at 1.4 km than at 100 m.

  • 5-star: the 5-star packages put you in the Abraj Al Bait towers or within 110 m in Madinah, so resting between prayers is realistic. This is our first suggestion for anyone over 60 or with mobility concerns.
  • 4-star: the 4-star hotels sit roughly 160–280 m from the Haram in Makkah, and the Sheraton’s pedestrian bridge takes you away from road traffic.
  • 3-star: the 3-star options are perfectly workable for younger, fit groups who plan to stay in the mosque from Isha until Fajr and accept a longer walk back.

Pacing yourself through ten long nights

The pilgrims who get the most from this period are usually the ones who plan their rest as carefully as their worship. Ten consecutive nights of Taraweeh, Qiyam and suhoor, on top of fasting, is demanding even for the young and healthy.

  • Sleep in blocks. A few hours after Dhuhr and a short rest after Fajr keep most people going through the nights.
  • Do your Umrah early. Completing tawaf and sa’i before the 21st night avoids attempting it in the heaviest crowds.
  • Agree a meeting point. Phones lose signal and battery in packed courtyards; choose a fixed gate number for your group.
  • Eat sensibly at iftar and suhoor. Dates, water and a light meal serve you better than a heavy plate before a long night standing.

If the cost of these dates stretches your budget, the earlier days of the month on our February Umrah page offer the same blessed month at lower prices, while the short post-Eid window is covered on our March Umrah page.

Shaping the trip: Makkah, Madinah and Eid

Our packages divide the nights between the two cities: a 10-night stay is five in each, while 12 and 14 nights split six and six or seven and seven. Pilgrims chasing the last ten nights usually want most of them in one city, so think about which matters most to you before you book.

Option one: Madinah first, Makkah for the odd nights

Arriving in Madinah around the 15th or 16th of Ramadan lets you spend time at Masjid an-Nabawi before travelling to Makkah, entering ihram at Dhul-Hulayfah on the way, and being in place for the 21st night onwards. The Haramain High Speed Railway connects the two cities in about two to two and three-quarter hours, though transfers in our packages are arranged for you.

Option two: straight to Makkah

Flying directly into Jeddah and heading for Makkah means you will need to be in ihram before the aircraft reaches the miqat. The drive from Jeddah airport to the Haram is roughly 60 to 90 minutes when roads are clear, but expect it to take longer in the last week of Ramadan.

Staying for Eid

If your return is booked after 9 March 2027 you may pray Eid al-Fitr in the Haram, which many families treasure. Return flights immediately after Eid are some of the busiest of the season, so lock these in early. The final departure date of the 1448 season is 7 April 2027.

Flights from the UK for the last ten

For 4-star and 5-star bookings from Heathrow and Manchester we use Saudia’s non-stop service to Jeddah, roughly six to six and a half hours in the air. Manchester’s Saudia schedule increases to 10 flights a week from 1 November 2026. All other departures, and our 3-star packages, connect with Turkish Airlines through Istanbul (Glasgow uses Emirates via Dubai), with a total journey of about nine to twelve hours depending on the connection. If you live in the North West, our Manchester Umrah packages page explains the options; Londoners can see the Heathrow details on the London page.

Before you go

  • Your passport needs at least six months’ validity from the date you arrive.
  • Meningitis ACWY is required at least 10 days before arrival; for a 27 February arrival, that means by mid-February at the latest.
  • Rawdah visits are booked through Nusuk and limited to once every 365 days, with separate time windows for men and women. Slots in the last ten nights are in high demand.
  • Pack for mild nights: Makkah’s average late-February low is around 20°C, and Madinah’s can drop to about 14°C.
  • Read the current UK government travel advice for Saudi Arabia before paying a deposit (it presently advises against all but essential travel) and make sure your insurance will cover you on that basis.

Secure your last-ten-nights booking

Flight-inclusive packages are ATOL protected (ATOL No. 11203), and we confirm the protection that applies to your booking. If the full ten nights are out of reach, earlier in the month is gentler on the budget; compare our wider Ramadan Umrah packages. Questions

Last Ten Nights Umrah FAQs

When are the last 10 nights of Ramadan in 2027?

If Ramadan 1448 begins on 8 February 2027 as expected, the last ten nights start on the evening of Saturday 27 February 2027 and run until Eid, expected on 9 March. A moon sighting a day earlier would move everything back by one day, so allow some flexibility in your travel dates.

How much is a last 10 nights Umrah package?

Our last ten nights packages start from £1,055 per person at 3-star, £1,225 at 4-star and £1,515 at 5-star, sharing a quad room. That includes flights, visa, hotels and transfers.

Which night is Laylat al-Qadr in 2027?

Laylat al-Qadr is sought in the odd nights of the last ten, and nobody can name the exact night in advance. Based on the expected calendar, the odd nights fall on the evenings of 27 February and 1, 3, 5 and 7 March 2027. Many pilgrims give particular attention to the 27th night.

Should I spend the last ten nights in Makkah or Madinah?

Both are special and it comes down to personal preference. Many pilgrims choose to be in Makkah for the odd nights so they can pray near the Kaaba, visiting Madinah before the 21st. Others love the atmosphere of Masjid an-Nabawi. Tell us your priority and we will suggest a split.

Is it too crowded to take children for the last ten nights?

It is the busiest time of the year, and young children can find the late nights and crowds tiring. If you do take them, choose a hotel very close to the mosque so you can return easily, and keep expectations realistic. Families often find the February half-term earlier in Ramadan more manageable.

Can I stay in Makkah for Eid al-Fitr 2027?

Yes, as long as your return flight is after Eid, which is expected on 9 or 10 March 2027. Your visa still needs to be issued by 9 March and you must have entered the country by 23 March. Return flights after Eid fill quickly, so book them at the same time as your hotel.
